About the Author & Illustrator 

 

 

Shao-Ying (Author): After many years of working as a regional General Counsel at Nike, Shao-Ying now writes stories inspired by everyday life. She lives on the U.S. West Coast with her husband and  a cat who keeps everyone on schedule. A Cat Compound in Cihangir is her first picture book.

Samantha Mautner (Illustrator): An illustrator who brings her characters and worlds to life through warm, compelling visual storytelling. Samantha holds a BFA in Animation and Illustration from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and works across animated shorts, comics and graphic novels. She lives on the U.S. East Coast with her big orange cat Gilly, the undisputed studio boss with a gangster swag.
